New Work

Unland/Doris Salcedo
February 18–April 27, 1999

Unland/Doris Salcedo: New Work features three intricate sculptural tables that serve as memorials to the people of Colombia, Salcedo’s homeland. Each of the three works was formed by combining two mismatched table halves into one unit. Taking over a year to complete each sculpture, the artist incorporated organic and domestic materials — human hair, silk, and even a tiny metal bed.
