Treasures of Modern Art

The Legacy of Phyllis Wattis at SFMOMA
January 30–June 24, 2003

In celebration of the exceptional contribution Phyllis Wattis made to SFMOMA, Treasures of Modern Art highlights works of art acquired by the Museum through its devoted trustee and patron, who passed away in June 2002 at the age of 97. Focusing on art that entered the collection between 1995 and 2002, the exhibition includes works by such artists as Marcel Duchamp, Alberto Giacometti, René Magritte, and Robert Rauschenberg, illustrating an extraordinary range of modern art and offering an unprecedented look at the Wattis legacy.
