New Work

Painting Today, Recent Acquisitions
December 17, 1999–March 28, 2000

The SFMOMA Painting and Sculpture Department is actively adding to its collection of paintings by emerging artists working locally, nationally, and internationally. This exhibition, presenting works acquired in the past three years through both purchases and gifts, marks the first public viewing at SFMOMA of many of these paintings. It is far from a complete selection of new works in the collection by younger or less-established artists, but it does provide a representative overview, including work by Callum Innes, Udomsak Krisanamis, Hung Liu, Antje Majewski, Deborah Oropallo, Laura Owens, Brett Reichman, James Siena, Hiroshi Sugito, Luc Tuymans, Nicola Tyson, and William Wood.

No brochure was produced for this exhibition.

The exhibition is made possible by Collectors Forum, an auxiliary of SFMOMA. The exhibition is supported in part by the San Francisco International Exposition Residency, a collaborative project of SFMOMA and the San Francisco Art Institute.
