New Work

David Hammons
March 3–May 15, 1994

David Hammons’s work challenges social and cultural conventions by exploring the dichotomy between confinement and openness, and by questioning accepted ideas about morality and beauty. This presentation features a new installation in which Hammons examines the history of SFMOMA’s current galleries at the War Memorial Veterans Building, which are soon to be vacated. Organized by the Williams College Museum of Art, in Williamstown, Massachusetts, this exhibition is part of SFMOMA’s New Work series.

No brochure was produced for this exhibition. A catalogue was published by Williams College Museum of Art in 1994.
