The Education Department at SFMOMA organizes a wide range of programs for audiences of all ages. We offer special exhibition-related events, such as artist talks and lectures; tours for students, adult groups, and walk-in visitors; and family days and monthly hands-on family studios. Visit the calendar to learn about upcoming events.

Unique among U.S. art museums, SFMOMA's Koret Visitor Education Center offers new pathways to enjoying art. This dynamic drop-in facility provides a broad range of individualized and interactive services, as well as a full calendar of public programs and activities. Open to all visitors, the Koret Center is located on the Museum's second floor, only steps from the galleries. For more information, including public hours, visit the Koret Center page.

First-time visitors should be sure to read about public tours and audio tours of the collection, as well as podcasts guides to exhibitions. SFMOMA's interactive programs offer all visitors an enriching way to learn about art. For an educational experience via the Web, be sure to check out the online program Making Sense of Modern Art. Teachers will find a variety of programs described in on the Teachers and Schools page.

SFMOMA is integrating the power of interactive programs into museum programming and the visitor experience in a variety of settings, thanks to a leadership grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a federal agency. Learn more about this project in Bridging the Gap: From Real Art to Virtual Learning.
